Greetings from Lancaster!
Ali officially takes on full responsibility for her new role as the Managing Editor of Ethnologue on the 1st of July. One of the major projects that I will be working on is finding suitable candidates for roles as regional editors of Ethnologue. We hope to have editors who will cover all the regions of the globe, giving us closer contact with the places where the languages we report on are spoken.
Tim’s ongoing role with SIL has solidified over the last month. It has been confirmed that he will be the full-time Security and Risk Management coordinator for the new EurAsia Area. This is no small job. A significant proportion of current global 'trouble spots' fall under Tim’s remit. As you can imagine, he has been a busy boy over the past few weeks.

Tim travelled to the European mainland this past month to meet with the Human Resources leadership team of the former Eurasia area to chat through the transition to a new area and start to get our heads around the task before us. We'll be moving from 400-ish staff to 1200-ish staff and from 5 teams to 17 teams. In the midst of the transition, it's hard to get an exact number for the people and projects. As the corporate systems are reconfigured, we'll get a fuller picture.
Dan is still looking for short-term paid work. In the meantime, he has decided to volunteer with Friends of Lancaster Library. This is a group that he encountered when visiting the library a month or so ago. They run a cafe twice a week and organise other events to encourage people to make use of the library. He has enjoyed getting to know others who are involved, and it will provide a chance to get out of the house and do something productive.
This month, we had a mini-road trip to Malvern, where Elim is headquartered. The purpose was to update an agreement between Wycliffe, Elim and ourselves. We are in the privileged position of being Elim Missionaries serving with Wycliffe. Having two organisations supporting us has been truly beneficial, but it does require a bit of negotiation to work out who is responsible for what. We also wanted to have our church here in Lancaster, Father’s House Elim Church, recognised as our sending church. Wycliffe sent a representative, and our pastor from Father’s House drove us down there. It was a great time with lots of laughter and really good progress. It was encouraging to see how all parties were keen to work together to ensure that we are well supported.
Please take some time to pray for us if you can.
