Nigeria Trip Up-Date

It has taken me a few days of recovering from the travel to get my head around everything that happened.
The trip was incredible in so many ways, but it was not without its challenges.

We landed and stayed overnight in Abuja on the day Nigeria were beaten in the Semi-Final of the Africa cup of nations, by their arch rivals Ghana.

The first couple of days were spent travelling around the Koro language area half way between Jos and Abuja. There are 4 languages in a cluster there and Wycliffe UK Are involved in funding all 4 translation projects. This was extra exciting for me as the “From Eden to Eternity” tour (www.eden2eternity.org) in May and June this year is hoping to raise enough money to support the cluster for the next couple of years.

 

There was a whole lot of meeting and greeting, hearing reports from the projects, eating a wonderful variety of food and a surprise hike to a local cave which is a large part of the Duya language history. I am not cut out for roughing it like the people who do language survey!

It was extremely exciting to see the people who are involved get so excited by our little visit, and to see people so excited about getting God’s word in a language they understand. The small time we were in church, the difference in people paying attention to the reading in Duya was remarkable! I’ll try get a clip on YouTube soon.
